Electrolux vacuum bags
Electrolux popularised the s-bag system in the 1990s and it remains the reference bag for most classic and mid-range cylinder models, though recent ranges have moved to the redesigned GR200S bag with a wider opening.
How to identify your Electrolux model
Electrolux machines that take an s-bag say so: the s-bag logo is printed inside the dust compartment door, and that logo is the licence mark for the whole system. If it is there, an s-bag fits, whatever the machine is called on the lid.
The model code is on a plate on the underside of the body. Note it before ordering, because a minority of Electrolux cylinders sit outside the s-bag system and take a different reference entirely.

Where Electrolux owners go wrong
- Treating the s-bag colours as different shapes. The Classic, Clinic, Anti-odour and Long Performance variants all share one collar and differ in the filtration media and service life.
- Assuming a newer Electrolux is bagged. Several recent ranges moved to bagless bins and no s-bag applies to them.
- Discarding the motor filter that comes in the pack. It is included because it should be changed roughly when the pack runs out.
When to change the bag
s-bags hold three litres and the machines have an indicator, but fine dust blinds the paper before the bag fills. Change it when suction softens on carpet rather than waiting for the indicator to be fully red, and fit the pack's motor filter at the same time on the last bag of a pack.

Is an s-bag from another brand safe in an Electrolux?
The s-bag standard is licensed and used beyond Electrolux and AEG, so a genuine s-bag from a licensed maker fits. Check the logo on the pack rather than the brand name.
What is the difference between Classic and Long Performance?
Capacity is the same. Long Performance adds a synthetic fleece layer, which holds airflow for longer before the bag blinds.
The machine has no s-bag logo. What do I do?
Read the model code on the underside plate and match it against the references listed on this site before ordering anything.
